Gamers Make the Most Plays
Warning: The following is in no way suggested if you are the driver of a moving vehicle. Also, always remain buckled in.
Pretty soon we'll all be "driving" automated cars.
That goes without saying, but I said it anyway.
Once that happens, what are you going to do when the scenery gets boring?
Play a game, of course.
The idea behind International Play a Game in a Moving Vehicle Day is to get you acclimated to the concept of playing games in your car before the Vehicle Automation Age is upon us.
Obviously, the way current car interiors are formatted, some games are easier to play inside than others. And Twister is probably always going to be a tough one.
If you have a vehicle that has anything resembling a table, consider yourself blessed. There are many games you can play on even a smallish table. Clue would work. You might even be able to make a go at Monopoly.
The larger your playing surface, the more games you have available. If you have a (mini)van, you can take out a couple of seats and insert a card table or equivalent.
Dexterity games, like Jenga, are extra-challenging when played on the road. It's like having a "dummy" player who adds a layer of difficulty to the game.
Some games, like the original 20 Questions, don't even need a playing area. You could even include the driver in a game like that.
Someday soon automated cars, which will be designed with gamers in mind, will open up the playing field (literally?) and allow you to play most any game you prefer. Until that time, get as much gaming in, especially on January 3, as possible.
Game on!
