Infrequently Asked Questions

Welcome to Da Unyun.

You really should read the following Infrequently Asked Questions (IAQ) before looking at anything else here.

If you don't, proceed at your own risk.

Q: What is Da Unyun?
A: Da Unyun is a blog that pays homage to the popular satirical, online, news magazine called The Onion. Just as the writers at The Onion post virtually nothing entirely true, so Da Unyun will contain nothing you should put stock in.

Q: What do posts/articles during the first year of Da Unyun's existence look like?
A: The posts or articles look like they contain what could be legitimate information, but as noted above, that is the furthest thing from the truth.

The first 366 (2016 is a leap year) articles apprise you of 366 special days that you can celebrate or commemorate. Sometimes these days stretch into weeks or months.

Sometimes you'll notice a theme over a period of several days. Sometimes the special day relates to the date on which it falls. Sometimes that connection is obvious, sometimes not.

Q: Were the ideas for the 366 articles for 2016 all decided upon before 2016 came into existence?
A: Yes.

Q: Why are the first 366 articles all about unreal, special days?
A: No doubt you've heard about a real special day that someone created, and you wondered, "Is that for real? Why would anyone want to celebrate such a thing?" At Da Unyun you don't have to ask such silly questions.

You're still encouraged (in most cases) to actually celebrate or commemorate these days and promote them amongst your friends.

Q: How can I help promote Da Unyun?
A: Sorry to answer a question with a question, but are you really sure you want to do that?

Q: Yes, I am.
A: That's not a question.

Q: How I can help?
A: Putting a question mark at the end of a sentence doesn't magically turn it into a question.

Q: (sigh) How can I help?
A: Thanks for asking. The best way is to use the sharing mechanisms provided at the end of an Unyun article and on Facebook.

Commenting on an article also helps. People like reading thoughtful comments.

Q: Isn't "thoughtful comments" an oxymoron?
A: ...
