You Remember Stamps, Right?
Seriously. When was the last time you used a postage stamp?
Did you have to stop and think about that one?
Do you know where your nearest post office is?
When was the last time you received any mail that had a real postage stamp on it?
Today, go back in time to the days of yore when postage stamps still felt like a real thing. Celebrate Buy a Single Stamp at the Post Office Day by making the trek to any US post office and purchasing a real stamp. Get one that you have to lick to affix, if you can - not one of those self-stickers that seems more appropriate in a Disney princess sticker book.
Getting a "forever" stamp is okay, but asking for one with actual numbers on it is better. Who came up with that "forever" idea anyway? Is it any wonder that the post office is in financial straits? Think how much revenue they must have lost due to "forever" stamps. I realize email hasn't helped their cause any either.
If you want to see what some real stamps used to look like, take a peek at my US Stamp Catalog site. That'll show you that a stamp used to be a stamp, back in the day.
