Do It While You Can
Walk Backward 6116 Step Day is an obvious reference to today's quasi-palindromic date - 6/1/16. As such, this is really only a one-time celebration as there won't be another 6/1/16 until 6/1/2116.
You probably don't plan to be here then.
Walking backward that many steps will take some effort.
So with apologies, to President Lincoln, let's see how this plays out.
Let's assume for easy math that each step is a yard long. (Yours won't be unless you're really tall, especially since a backward step is likely to be shorter than a normal forward step.)
A mile is 1760 yards, so that's 3.475 miles of backward progress.
If I walk any significant amount at all, it's rarely more than 2 miles per day. YMMV. (Look it up if you can't figure it out.)
Joggers, please don't attempt this at home. Out in the woods? Maybe.
Will you look silly doing this? Absolutely, but the explanation is fairly simple, so go for it.
