I've already used the $ in its most common misuse. How else might you use it on Use the $ Incorrectly Day?
You could make it be your name for the day, as in, "Hello, my name is $." (Pronunciation optional.)
You could use it$ when you write$ in place of punctuation marks$
Just inject it into the middle of a conversation. "Bob, did you $ the Flugelhorn account that $$ $ $$ yesterday?"
The $ has a long and illustrious history that you can read about here. Nobody knows for sure where it came from, but there are several good possibilities.
I find it interesting that it's still part of a computer keyboard as Shift-4 but the cent sign has gone the way of the dinosaur. You can't find either of them on a keyboard these days.
For the young, it used to be visible on a typewriter keyboard simply because it had to be there.
Maybe its gradual extinction is a clue that the penny should also go away.
