Don't Look at the Sun Day

But Mama, That's Where the Fun Is

Well, it was bound to happen again sometime. I didn't get this post out on the date it was supposed to be published. Did you miss me?

Don't Look at the Sun Day will probably always occur when there is no solar eclipse where you are living, so this won't be a difficult day to celebrate.

I wonder why the sun is so bright that we can't look at it. It wouldn't have to be, you know.

There are probably plenty of other worlds where you can look at the sun without the danger of hurting your eyesight. Maybe none of them are habitable, in the way that Earth is habitable, though.

Looking at the reflection of the sun is okay today. Photos are fine too. It's the direct look, even a glance at sunset, that's forbidden.

Stars don't count either.

There are plenty of other things to look at. Pick one and gaze.
