National Walk on a Non-Red Carpet Day

Try to Stay Off Flying Carpets Too

Today is not the day for giving someone (or yourself) the "red carpet treatment".

National Walk on a Non-Red Carpet Day should be easy to celebrate for most people. I don't know too many folks (none, actually) who have a house full of only red carpeting. Pretty much everyone has carpet in at least one room that is not red.

The carpet doesn't have to be the long, narrow type that would go down an aisle. Any regular room carpeting will do.

When I was still living with my parents, we had a room with shag red carpet, but that's the only time I can ever remember seeing red carpet in a house in person.

If you watch those awards shows on TV, I guess you can sometimes see the red carpet that the invitees cross to get into the building. You're not likely to have to worry about that today.

It's hard to tell, but the idea for this day might have originated with someone who had a phobia related to red carpets. That ailment is called rojalfombrafobia.

I hope you never catch that, even though I sounds a lot worse than it really is.
