Full Moon Awareness Day

Shine On

Most teachers are already fully aware of full moon days. They will tell you their classes are often particularly poorly behaved when there's a full moon about.

Full Moon Awareness Day for the rest of us means (whether there's a full moon today or not) that you need to go out and look at the moon, assuming it's visible, at least once today to see what phase it's in.

Even if it's not a full moon today, this action indicates that you are aware of such a thing as a full moon.

Trust me. It does.

If you go out and look today, you're more likely to check for it on other days. You're also more likely to listen more closely to news reports describing this occurrence, even though it's not all that newsworthy...like the first snowfall of the season.

I think that months used to correlate exactly with the moon's cycle before the Flood.

But that's a discussion for another time.

Merry Christmas.
