National Write a Thank You Note to Someone You Don't Know Day

Like Jimmy Fallon, Write a Thank You Note

If you've watched The Tonight Show recently, you may have seen the segment where Jimmy Fallon writes bogus thank you notes for a wide range of funny things.

Today, January 5, is not that day for you. You task is to think of someone you don't know personally, find their snail mail or email address (or possibly an online contact form), and write them a short note of thanks.

What you would thank them for obviously depends on who it is you're writing to, but here are a few suggestions.

You could go big and thank President Obama for keeping the White House in one piece. At least, the last time I looked, it was all there. Stephen Colbert hasn't said otherwise.

You could go even bigger and thank Elon Musk for being creative.

If you think those ideas are too challenging, you could thank your local library website head technician for not forcing you to use a physical card catalog. (I realize some of you may not know what a card catalog is, but I'll take that risk.)

If, after you write your thank you note, you get a reply from the person (or persons - it's okay to write to more than one today) you thanked, come back here and tell Da Unyun about your success story. We're always glad to hear that we've made a difference, or a change, in someone's life.
