Repeatedly Open and Close a Laptop Day

Like Opening and Closing the Refrigerator Door

I think the inventor of Repeatedly Open and Close a Laptop Day was having a bad day with his computer. I'm guessing he wanted to see what, if any, damage he could inflict on his laptop.

This reminds me of the old gag (for lack of a better term) where someone tries to open and close the door of a refrigerator to see what happens to the light inside.

I have not yet tried to celebrate (if that's what you can still call this activity) this way with my laptop. I'm not sure I want to for fear of what it might do. I don't have any bones to pick with my machine.

If any of you have tried this in the past, either by accident or on purpose, let me know how it turned out. Maybe nothing bad really happens. Probably nothing does or the creator of this special day wouldn't have created it...right?

On the off chance that something bad does, or can, happen, maybe this should only be attempted with a laptop that you don't really use anymore. We had one sitting around here for months, but we recently sold it, so that's out of the question for me.

I'm not sure that hitting the on/off button on a desktop would accomplish the same thing. That said, if you've got an old one just sitting around and want to give it a shot, go for it.

Any and all results of celebrating January 13 properly would be welcome information here at Da Unyun.
