Bet You Can't Undo What You Did
You've probably celebrated Straighten a Paper Clip Day without even realizing you were doing it.
Sometimes you need the fairly straight, thin piece of metal that a paper clip can provide when reworked into that shape.
Sometimes you're just plain bored (at a meeting?) and need to do something to stay awake. Sometimes that paper clip is the only thing that will save you.
Today, January 30, is the day to straighten that clip for no outside reason whatsoever. Just do it.
The paper clip you choose can be of any size and any color, so even those non-silver ones that are made of plastic are legit.
According to Wikipedia (WDNL)..."According to the Early Office Museum, the first patent for a bent wire paper clip was awarded in the United States to Samuel B. Fay, in 1867."
Who knew there was an Early Office Museum? Sadly, there is no building; it's just a website.
Somewhat amazingly, Wikipedia also hints at Straighten a Paper Clip Day here. While you're looking at that section of the wiki article, you might as well read the rest of it - which is way too long considering the subject matter.
Send Da Unyun a picture of your unbent clip. We'll even accept and post your creative shapes. If you can prove you straightened one and put it back to its starting position, we'd love to see that.
