How Old Are You Anyway?
Are you at or past that age where you have to do the math to figure out how old you are? (I don't remember what that age is.)
When you're young, you don't have trouble remembering how old you are. You probably even say things like, "I'm 6 and a half!"
You actually like telling most people how old you are and when your birthday is, hoping that they'll remember you on your next birthday.
Somewhen along the line (probably after 18 years or so), you might decide that you don't really want others to know your age. The stereotype is that this especially applies to women, but I'm not sure how true that is.
And then there's that point at which you think about your age so little that you have to calculate your age based on the current year, your birth year, and whether you've already had the anniversary of your birth in the current year.
So, especially for those who have to employ subtraction, today you get to Tell Everyone You Meet Your True Age. This should help you remember what it is, at least for a while.
Note that to really celebrate this special day properly, you should tell everyone you encounter today - whether the subject comes up in conversation or not, whether you know the other person or not.
How gutsy are you?
Will you mention it to the checkout person? To the bus driver? To your manager and coworkers? To your next-door neighbor? To the guy at the next gas pump?
To Da Unyun?
