No Need to Climb Ev'ry Mountain
National Climb a Mountain Outside Your Home State Day may require a little travel, unless you're already on the road for a vacation or business purposes.
That said, even if you are outside your home state right now, that state might not have any mountains in it. That would require still more travel.
If you don't have time or can't afford to travel today, make plans for next year.
Technically a mountain is not technically defined, so if you want to call something a mountain in your state and can make an argument for it, I guess your state has a mountain.
That said, some states just do not have mountains. You just don't hear of people scaling the peaks of Iowa or Florida.
Note that this is only a national, not international, celebration, so most of the really big mountains are ineligible for climbing today. Perhaps someday there will be an expanded version of this special day.
One can only hope.
