Use Cinco Instead of Five Day

Spoiler Alert about Cinco De Mayo

Cinco de Mayo is an American celebration. If you're going to Mexico today expecting a big shindig, you're more than likely going to be disappointed.

Stay in America where this all started if you really want to party.

For Use Cinco Instead of Five Day itself, there's no need to party. Just remember to say or write "cinco" (Spanish for "five") every time you want to use the number "five" or "5".

It's unclear at this point whether that includes the number 5 within a longer number. To be on the safe side, do it there too.

For example, give your phone number as...cinco, cinco, cinco, one, two, one, two.

If you know the other numbers from one to ten in Spanish (and who doesn't, if you watched Sesame Street?), you can also use them in place of the American numbers today.

Just in case you haven't heard of this number or the Spanish-sounding celebration before, the word cinco is pronounced SING-ko.

De nada.
