Eclipse Awareness Week

But Mama, That's Where the Fun Is

(I really don't like that song, but for some reason it's the first thing that came to mind. Now that I think about it, "You flew your Lear jet up to Nova Scotia to see the total eclipse of the sun" would have been a much better lead in.)

Did you know that eclipses happen all the time? Well, not all the time, but a lot more often than most people realize.

That's the reason for Eclipse Awareness Week.

There are lunar and solar eclipses. In a lunar eclipse, the order is moon-Earth-sun. In a solar eclipse, the order is sun-moon-Earth.

There are total and partial eclipses.

There will be 3 more eclipses in 2016 (as of this writing in August) according to this list on Time and Date.

The main reason (unless you're really, really into this) that you don't hear about most eclipses is that many of them happen in a part of the world where you don't live.

How do you celebrate this week? Buy a Lear jet.
