Isn't is at least a little bit amazing to you that people can keep coming up with new songs? Wouldn't you think that sooner or later we'd start repeating at least the melodies if not the harmonies?
I know that there have been a few cases where artists claimed that someone else copied their song, but those are really rather rare.
I'm sure you can think of bits and pieces of melodies that, when you hear them, you think, "That sounds just like blah-blah-blah from song Xyz."
Maybe that means we're getting closer to running out of new tunes. Maybe pretty soon everything will be remakes or covers.
There are actually a lot more covers than most people realize. Usually it's younger folks who have only heard the cover that don't know that it's a cover until an older person tells them about it.
