Decade Awareness Month

A Decadent Time?

I dunno. I thought the August 31 celebration was the silliest. Not I'm not so sure.

Taking a whole month (and this time you know about it near the beginning of said month) to celebrate a decade just seems...I don't even know what to call it.

There is, of course, a problem with this month. After the end of the current decade, do you still celebrate that decade or do you switch to the next one?

And which year is really the beginning of a new decade? Is it the year ending in 0 or the year ending in 9? We talk about the 70s, for example, but is that 1970 through 1979 or is it really 1971 through 1980?

There's a similar debate about centuries, but I won't get into that here. In either instance, you have to think about going back to the year 1 (which sorta didn't exist at the time) and figure out how you're going to count these things.

The good thing about Decade Awareness Month is that you don't actually have to do anything other than become aware of it.

You're welcome yet again.
