The month referred to in Become an Alternate or Backup Month does not mean a calendar month. It starts today and lasts for the next 30 days.
During that time, you should find some position that would benefit from having an alternate or backup in case the person who most likely will carry out the duties of said position cannot fulfill them.
Miss America comes to mind, but they already have that taken care of, so skip that one.
President of the United States also comes to mind, but again, don't bother. You wouldn't really want that one anyway, would you?
Being the backup drummer for Spinal Tap would be...interesting.
You could declare yourself alternate Pope and see if anyone notices. Or if that seems too lofty, try a regional bishop or cardinal.
Or just be the backup to your neighborhood waste management truck driver. In our area, it's a pretty cushy job these days. The truck itself does all the heavy lifting.
