Rock around the Clock
International Rocking Chair Day may already be a thing. I didn't check. If it is, I hereby replace this day with the (formerly) official date.
Sit in your rocking chair all day today, if at all possible. If you don't own one, visit someone who does and share rocking duties.
Alternatively, visit a furniture store and rock during store hours.
The cushier the rocker, the better, of course. If the chair you choose doesn't have a seat cushion, I strongly urge you to provide your own. You're going to be sitting there a long time. Your bottom will really appreciate it. A pillow will suffice.
While sitting in the rocking chair, you should be continually rocking. Actually it's pretty hard not to rock while in a rocker. After all, that's what they were made for.
I wonder who invented rocking chairs and why. Was it really for pacifying young children? Or was there some other reason for their creation?
Maybe someone just got tired of seeing people rock back on a standard four-legged chair. That sight does compel one to say, "That's not a rocking chair!"
