More Than Just Latin
Everyone knows that Latin is a dead language. In fact, it's probably the first language that comes to mind whenever you're speaking of dead languages.
But is Latin really dead?
Don't many churches (especially the Catholic) still use it? Isn't it still used in science - and so scientists (and many of us) still speak it once in a while?
A dead language is one that no one speaks anymore.
Here are a couple of recently dead languages according to Wikipedia.
Nuchatlaht, which is of the Wakashan family of languages, sounds like an interesting one from British Columbia. I think it's kind of ironic that this language almost sounds like You Chat A Lot.
Cromarty, a dialect of Scots, reminds us of the football player Rogers-Cromartie. There must be a relationship there.
What's your favorite dead language?
