National Contact the Smallest City in Your State Day

Three Bars and a Church

Gross, Nebraska
Before you can celebrate National Contact the Smallest City in Your State Day, you have to find out which city that is. It doesn't actually have to be a formal "city". It could be a village or whatever other small gathering of people your state allows.

Determining the smallest one might not be as easy as it sounds. There may be official records, but it doesn't say that you have to abide by those. If you know of a town that is smaller than what the official doc says, you can use that one instead.

It's possible that you might find two or more places tied for the smallest population. You can either pick one at random or contact all of them.

Who do you contact? If you can find a leader, like a mayor or council chairman, use that person. If the locale is so small that they don't have any formal leader, you could pick any (email) address you can find and write to them.

If it's so small that only a handful of people live there, go ahead and try to contact all of them.

If you're really ambitious, go visit them in person. Just drop in. Most people in tiny towns are just glad to have someone, anyone visit.

For the record, in Wisconsin, Egg Harbor and Eland have 203 people each. But I know there are smaller places than that.
