The Bigger They Are, the Harder to Uncoil
When you celebrate Uncoil a Spring Day today, try not to overdo it. There are some springs you simply will not be able to uncoil.
Try to find one that is small and made of light gauge metal. Uncoiling such a spring as far as possible is your goal. If you can get it to look like a straight piece of wire, that's great.
If you're up for an additional challenge, try recoiling it again. (Good luck with that.)
I'm not sure whether starting to uncoil a spring is easier to do from the middle of it or from one of the ends. Maybe someone out there can try it on two springs and let us know.
Assuming the ends of your spring are not capped in any way, be a little careful that you don't poke yourself with the end of the wire. This is not a day to cause infections.
By now, some of you have probably thought of the Slinky. (Yes, the picture likely helped.) Please don't mess with a Slinky. The Slinky gets messed up easily enough on its own. Many Slinkies (Slinkys?) have died the day they were purchased and have never been brought back to life in their original form. Sad, but true.
