Make Sure It Can Support You
At this time of year, we often think of polls, but today you need to think of poles instead.
Climb a Pole Day is not the same as Sit on Top of a Pole Day. (I'm assuming there is such a day.)
All you have to do today is climb the pole. You can come right back down as soon as you reach the top.
Actually, I'm not sure that there is a requirement that you even reach the top of the pole. I think you can climb just part of the way up - until you can't climb anymore, most likely - and then slide down again and still say you've celebrated the day.
If you have a climbable pole at home, fine. If you need to find one elsewhere, make sure it's legal to climb it. We don't want anyone to get arrested for illegal pole climbing.
And don't go around greasing poles to make it harder and messier for others to climb. That's just not nice.
I wasn't going to mention it, but I guess I better or someone will try it.
Don't climb a Pole!
