Weather Awareness Day

Because There's Always Room for Weather

I haven't heard it for a while, but when the weatherman says that we're going to have some weather tomorrow, that just grinds my gears. And my gears don't really need grinding.

Weather Awareness Day was created in honor, or in spite, of those weathermen and weatherwomen who like to predict that there's going to be weather in the future.

But today you really should be aware that there is weather whether or not they told you there would be.

The weather in our part of the country (Midwest) on this inaugural Weather Awareness Day is going to be quite unusual. The high temperature is going to be near 70 degrees. If this is an effect of the greenhouse, I don't mind, as a human.

Apparently some people think that some animals will mind the warmer temperatures over time. I wonder if these are the same people that tell us that animals adapt to their surroundings.

The weather here is a couple of days is supposed to be such that we could see a few snowflakes. This is to happen less than a week before the Thanksgiving holiday. Do you remember when you were in college (for those who attended) hoping that there would be a blizzard the Sunday after Thanksgiving so you couldn't make it back to school after going home for the long weekend?

Probably not going to happen this year (2016). Then again, maybe we should wait to see if the weatherman says there's going to be weather then.
